Genre: Historical Romance
Rating A-
In a rustic Mississippi tavern, a beautiful exiled princess was forced to dance for the pleasure of others--unaware of her regal birthright ... and infuriated by a magnificent, golden-eyed devil who crossed an ocean to possess her. A bold and brazen prince came to America to claim his promised bride. But the spirited vixen spurned his affections while inflaming his royal blood with passion's fire... impelling virile Stefan Barany to take in sensuous and searing conquest the love young Tatiana vowed never to yield.
My Thoughts
Since hoarding historical romances these past few months, I would say that this has a unique plot, one of the few I've encountered. This has the usual love and hate scenario that I love, but I found myself longing for something more when I finished reading this book.
I'm not dissatisfied, but it seems that its fast-paced plot lacked the kind of hero I wanted (I'm not precisely sure of my standards for hero-worship). Tanya was definitely spitting fire, and Stefan spitting back (literally) and the scenes were as exactly the way I wanted it to be, yet the story seemed to be lacking the emotion I felt required to make it a five (I need to reread to catch that emotion).
The book was good, but it didn't deliver the last few pages I'm hoping for. The kind of ending that would leave me misty-eyed.
